Model EU

Over the last decade, the Model EU simulations (MEU) have developed into an effective learning method to teach students about the evolving European Union (EU) system of governance. The complex role-plays in which students simulate the institutional complexity of the EU, are recognised as an effective tool to actively engage students in understanding EU institutions, their functioning and policy advancements. 

The overall purpose of the MEU is to provide a framework for a partial simulation of the decision-making process of the EU. The advanced preparations and the simulation give all participants a better understanding of the EU, its decision-making process, its politics and policies, as well as of major current issues of international relations. Also, MEU simulations allow participants to develop their skills and techniques in negotiation and conflict resolution, public speaking, debate, expository writing, logic and reasoning, small-group dynamics, leadership and problem-solving.

MEU simulations aim to increase awareness, visibility and understanding of the EU and EU institutions among participants and have been implemented as part of EU public diplomacy projects.
