Mahmoud Javadi

Mahmoud Javadi (He/Him) is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). At CSDS he is involved in the European Research Council-funded project titled “Competition in the Digital Era: Geopolitics and Technology in the 21st Century” (CODE). Prior to this, Mahmoud was an AI Governance Researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in the Netherlands, contributing to the EU-funded research consortium “Reignite Multilateralism via Technology” (REMIT). He also has experience with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where his research focused on EU external relations. Mahmoud has several publications to his name, including the co-authored book “European Union’s Knowledge Economy,” published in Farsi by the University of Tehran Press in 2018. His forthcoming monograph, scheduled for release in 2025, will explore the universalisation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). He holds a Master of Arts in Transnational Governance from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy.
