Masayuki Masuda is Professor and Head of the China Division at the National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) in Japan. Professor Masuda specialises in Chinese politics and foreign policy, Japan-China security relations, and Indo-Pacific geopolitics and strategy. Educated at Hiroshima Shudo University and Keio University, Professor Masuda is widely published, including The Shifting Dynamics of Great Power Competition (Tokyo: NIDS, 2023). Professor Masuda has also held visiting fellowship positions at the East-West Center and Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies.
