The New Global (Dis)order: Europe, Japan and the Future of Alliances

The second presidency of Donald J. Trump has shaken the foundations of the US-led alliance system, triggering uncertainties with profound repercussions for European and Indo-Pacific security. As European allies and Japan build up their defences and try to adapt to the new global strategic environment, a new momentum opens opportunities to further strengthen and rethink their cooperation in the security domain and beyond. The Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) is delighted to partner with the Kajima Institute for International Peace (KIIP), the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) and the Prospect Foundation for this public event to discuss the challenges and concrete steps that Europe, Japan and other like-minded Indo-Pacific partners can take to navigate the new geostrategic context.
