Future Trends in the Indo-Pacific

In the framework of the Bridging Allies initiative, a CSDS delegation travelled to Japan to participate in several meetings with partners in the region. CSDS experts held presentations at the NATO-Japan Symposium, organised by the University of Tokyo, the Royal Danish Embassy in Japan and NATO; and at Keio University for a workshop on Economic Security and common challenges for the EU and Japan.

Moreover, CSDS co-hosted a workshop within a NATO SPS sponsored project on ‘Future Trends in the Indo-Pacific’, together with the Japanese National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) at the International House of Japan. This operational meeting is the third encounter after Brussels and Canberra, where partners exchange views and discuss potential venues for cooperation. 

The trip was an opportunity to forge closer connections with partners in Japan and to gain a deeper understanding of security dynamics in the region. This was possible thanks to the varied and multi-dimensional series of meetings with scholars, policymakers and private sector.
