Preserving Peace: Defence Readiness Roadmap 2030 – Milestones

The Defence Readiness Roadmap 2030 represents a step in operationalising the EU’s ambition to strengthen its defence preparedness in light of accelerating geopolitical instability. The Roadmap translates the EU’s strategic intent into a concrete timeline of deliverables spanning capability development, industrial readiness and institutional coordination. Its relevance lies in providing a coherent framework through which Member States, EU institutions and industry can align efforts to close critical capability gaps, enhance supply chain resilience and bolster the Union’s ability to act autonomously and collectively in defence. To facilitate public understanding and policy engagement with this complex process, CSDS has produced an accessible infographic visualising the roadmap’s major milestones and objectives. This tool distils the roadmap’s layered timelines and thematic priorities – ranging from joint procurement and innovation to defence investment cycles – into a concise and reader-friendly format, enabling policymakers, academics and industry stakeholders to grasp the EU’s evolving defence trajectory towards 2030.
