PhD researcher Elie Perot was awarded the 2017 “Young Researcher Prize” (Prix du jeune chercheur) for his presentation on “The activation of the article 42.7 TEU by France and its consequences for the European security and defence policy” (L’activation de l’article 42, paragraphe 7, TUE par la France. Conséquences pour la politique européenne de sécurité et de défense) at the 5th annual symposium of the AFDSD (Association Française du Droit de la Sécurité et de la Défense – the French Association for Defence and Security Law) that took place in Lille on 28 and 29 September. In this presentation Elie explains that the invocation of the article 42.7 TEU has exposed the limits of mutual assistance in the framework of the EU. Moreover, the recent revival of the European security and defence policy has not really addressed the identified shortcomings of the EU on this matter yet.
The prize is awarded by the AFDSD to the best oral presentation of its annual symposium performed by a young researcher under 30.
